Why premises fail inspection

Incorrect layout and zoning

Production, raw material storage and finished goods storage must be clearly separated according to the criteria.

Missing signage or documents

Missing premises sign, location plan or proof of the right to use the premises.

Hygiene not up to standard

Floors, walls, drainage or pest control not yet meeting the standard.

Wrong application type

Premises that qualify as a factory filed as non-factory premises, or the other way round, which means refiling.

Which application form applies to each type of premises?

Summarised from Thai FDA information. Our team will assess which type your business falls under.

Food manufacturing premises (not qualifying as a factory)

Machinery under 50 horsepower in total and fewer than 50 workers: file Form Sor.Bor.1 to obtain the Sor.Bor.1/1 evidence. Application fee THB 1,000.

Food manufacturing premises (qualifying as a factory)

File Form Or.1 (อ.1) for a food manufacturing licence (Or.2 / อ.2). Application fee THB 2,000, plus a licence fee based on the size of the business.

Food import premises

File Form Or.6 (อ.6), application fee THB 5,000. Once approved you receive a food import licence (Or.7 / อ.7), licence fee THB 15,000, which must be renewed on schedule.

Cosmetic and medical device premises

New cosmetic manufacturers or importers must pass a premises inspection before notifying products. For medical devices, you must obtain a manufacturing or import premises licence before filing products.
